I've gone back and forth on the need for FTP. For end users, having a simple dl link for a file here and there is fine. Bulk downloads of thousands of are harder to manage through dl links.

For me, uploads of larger files (bigger than 2GB) or bulk uploads of thousands of files work best with FTP. Many storage services have software you can use to bulk upload but they are not always functional and often cause system crashes. Some of them are also annoying because they force you to sync folders. There is workaround for unsyncing dropbox folders but it can be a pain when you are dealing with 500GB of files. https://www.dropboxforum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/202317059-I-don-t-want-to-sync
