Yesterday I finished re-reading The Bright Lights of Disturbia by leonidaslion. It's a pretty dark Wincest fic, over 350,000 words long. Heed the tags, please. Not all of our scars are worn on the outside ...
It's a canon divergent fic set around s1 and s2 of Supernatural before going off on its own timeline...
And it majorly plays on consent and having an unreliable narrator: Sam.
Sinful Desire Archive Update
Nov. 22nd, 2015 11:34 am The Sinful Desire Archive is evaluating the process of moving the site to AO3. To do this they need two things:
(a) 1-2 members to help coordinate the migration and
(b) volunteers to help migrate the stories through a semi-automated process.
Please email mdawn6 @ yahoo.com if you are interested.
The migration process will take some time depending on how many volunteers they are able to get. Once the migration begins, the site will be frozen and no new stories will be added. Currently Sinful Desire has been renewed through March 2016. If the site goes offline before the migration is complete, they will still be able to compelte the migration if there is enough interest and volunteers.
If no one volunteers to coordinate the migration, then the site will not be migrated and it will go offline. Archive migration is driven by community interest.

The First J2 Vid?
Jun. 13th, 2015 10:20 pm I am trying to track down the first J2 fanvid.
So far the earliest I have found is fabella's Bohemian Like Me (Sept 2006). is fabella's May 2006 vid.
edited: the first RPF vid (vid about Jared and Jensen, but not necessarily J2) was in March 2006 was Bad Day by oohsmthngshiny
Any earlier? The show first aired in Sept 2005 and it would have taken time to find J2 footage. The Paley Festival was March 2006.

Sinful Desire Supernatural Archive
Dec. 30th, 2014 02:20 pm Sinful Desire, the largest Supernatural fan archive is gone. No idea why it went down, although the message seems to indicate it was due to lack of funds. If anyone is still in contact with the admin owner, I'd be happy to help.
But wow, that's a lot of fanfic that has been lost.

We have been in contact with the webhost for Sinful Desire. Both billing and support and they have said they cannot do anything until the site owner contacts them. This includes my offer of payment for another year which they will not accept until the owner gives permission. We have asked the webhost to preserve the data for another month, but they have not confirmed they are willing and able to do this. As of 12/31/2014 11am EST the site is down with no expected return date.
The site did receive an payment extension back in 2012, but that expired in 2013.
Both I and meus_venator reached out to the site owner in hopes we can get the site back up temporarily until a more permanent solution is worked out. If we hear from her, we will let you know and post updates to this post and in meus's SPN post. Until then, if you are an author and have not backed up your story, the spnstoryfinders members may be able to assist.
Amalthia has set up the 2014 Supernatural J2 Big Bang Collection on A03. Hopefully, the instructions on how to add your story to the collection are clear. When we posted about the collection in 2011, we had some suggestions about how to post to the A03 along with a reminder to artists that they can post their artwork to A03 - either part of the Big Bang story or on their own.
Here is the master collection covering 2007-2014 (the Ao3 collection was started in 2011 and writers and artists have been slowly adding their past fanworks): http://archiveofourown.org/collections/Supernatural_and_J2_Big_Bang_Challenge
And here is the one set up for 2014.

Note: A reminder that all Big Bang fanworks can be added to the collection. Art and fanvids are especially welcomed and can be added as their own stand alone entries or as part of the Big Bang story post. And here is a shout out to the latest Big Bang art posted to the collection:
kjanddean's art post for "Surface Tension" by ephermeralk and the most recent Big Bang vid for the 2010 Big Bang: meivocis' vid or "Luminous" by devilsduplicity
Feel free to cross-post or link to this post. Because this is not being run by the Big Bang challenge moderators, there will be no "official" announcement on the SPN J2 Big Bang community or any of the other SPN communities - so the only way to get the word out to fans who are posting their fanworks on AO3 is through you.

A historical overview here (The nonnies made them do it! [Fannish history. SPN. A/B/O]) along with a handy Timeline here.
I adore fans who write up history essays and timelines. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Blip.TV Bye-Bye
Oct. 8th, 2013 10:17 pmIf you are a vidder who has used Blip.TV to stream your vids, your vids will most likely be removed in the next few weeks. I did not receive a notification email, but thanks to
laurashapiro I logged in today and found that indeed, they are removing all of my vids.
The streaming options are poor, but I am testing out the AO3's "vid shell" - this is where you host your vid elsewhere (vimeo, youtube etc) and then use AO3 to create a stable "shell" (or link) to hand out. You can always update where the vid is actually hosted without having to change the link.
Anyhow, here is my Due South vid.
Flying Home (Vid) by Morgan Dawn
Fandom: due South
Relationships: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski, Benton Fraser/Ray Vecchio
Summary: Fraser character study: his past, present and future life.
And my Supernatural vid
God Says Nothing Back (vid) by Morgan Dawn
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Not Rated
Summary: The universe has a message for Sam, but is it one he wants to hear?
I also moved two of my favorite vids by other vidders:
Nights in White Satin (Wiseguy) by Lynn C and Tashery S
Continental Drift (Blake's 7) by Gayle F and Tashery S

The following info may be of interest to those writers and artists who are posting - or want to post – their Supernatural Big Bang fic and art to A03. Posting fan fic and artwork to A03 is not a requirement for the Supernatural and J2 Big Bang Challenges and neither Amalthia or I are part of the Supernatural and J2 Big Bang nor the A03. We’re just two very very eager and helpful readers with an organizing gene.
Tagging Your Fic On A03
We have set up a tag collection on A03 to help authors who are posting their Big Bang fiction to A03. Only authors can add their stories to the collection. Instructions and more info are here. Note: Big Bang stories are tagged by year. We’ve set up collections for all 5 years (2007-2011) and you can add your story to the collection even if it has already been uploaded to A03. You can add your story to the collection when you first post it or add it afterwards (no need to reupload).
Readers looking for SPN J2 Big Bang stories on A03 – go to here to read stories that are part of the Collection.
We are not very knowledgeable about A03 so if anyone has problems with uploading or tagging, your best bet is to contact A03 support or check their FAQ. Ditto on questions about how Collections or the A03 works, its features or how to get an invite.
Artwork on A03
We also want highlight two issues that may benefit SPN J2 Big Bang artists. First, authors can include Big Bang art in their stories on AO3– they have to host the images elsewhere (like LJ, PhotoBucket or Flickr). Here is an example of a SPN J2 Big Bang story that includes artwork. (scroll down to see the art).
Secondly, artists can also upload their artwork separately (again hosted elsewhere) and tag it as part of the SPN J2 Big Bang collection. Here is an example of artwork from the SGA Big Bang. When posting to AO3 artists add “Artwork” to the title of their work to help it stand out. The artists are then including their artwork in the Big Bang Collections as stand-alone works. If we get enough stand-alone artwork, we may be able to set up a separate SubCollection for them among the AO3 SPN Big Bangs.
Regards,
Morgan Dawn and Amalthia
PS. Accessibility Tips For Writers Not Using AO3
If you’re interested in improving accessibility for your fiction to help fans with disabilities (and even fans without) here are few tips:
*Design tips for your website/blog (basic stuff about color and fonts). These tips are actually helpful for everyone, but if you post your fic to A03, some of the design issues have been addressed.
*For fans who need to read offline, consider offering both a PDF and an ePub (include an ePub because not all readers can handle letter sized PDFs). If your fic is posted to AO3, PDFs, ePubs and Mobi files are automatically offered.
*If you don’t have time/knowledge to create a PDF and an ePub file, there are fans who will help (you can include a request for help in your Master post on your LJ). Even better if you offer your fic on a single webpage or a Word doc, fans can make their own PDFs/ePubs by using halcyon shift’s Squeebook – simply load the webpage URL or the .doc file and it is converted automatically.
