Signal Boost: Hey federated fans? you out there?

If you're within the sound of this post, and you're on a federated instance--hubzilla, mastedon, peertube, etc--and we're not already mutuals, can you comment to me? I'm really enjoying hubzilla and all the more so since I friended a bunch of fandom.ink people and some other fannish people on mastedon. FWIW, I'm over at [email protected].

And I am at [email protected]

Is the fediverse thing... worth doing? I mean, one more login (eep, one more set of logins) and interface to learn, one more place to check to see if My Peoples have posted anything, more sets of social protocols to figure out... bleh.

I want to shape the future of fannish communities by posting at Dreamwidth until everyone comes back and we re-create Livejournal 2004 only with better code and no corporate sleaze.

(I don't get to have that, do I. Dammit. I suppose I need to figure out how to join the fediverse.)

I just made myself an account and tried to connect to you. I never heard of this before but it sounds interesting.

Same as solo--just made an account and am trying to connect to you. I don't think Diane intends to ever monetize Dreamwidth, since that is a core value, but I recognize the impulse to "own the servers" or make sure nobody else can own 'em.
